Sage, bay tobacco and warm earth notes play equally important roles, adding superior range and depth. Everything pulls together through the finish, though the end point takes some time to reach. Best from 2025 through 2040. 250 cases made, 105 cases imported. - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator. The 2019 Gigondas Les Claux is one of the powerful yet elegant wines and offers a great bouquet of red and black fruits, graphite, crushed stone, and spice. It's full-bodied and tannic and needs time, but the balance is spot on, the tannins are perfectly ripe and polished, and it has a gorgeous finish. Give it 2-4 years and enjoy over the following 15+ - Jeb Dunnuck. Editor's Choice. Massively ripe and densely concentrated, this sun-drenched wine boasts flavors of black plum and wild raspberry that are unctuous and roasted. The powerful, delicately spicy and smoky Grenache maintains the finesse and precision you expect from Saint Cosme. Fine, supple tannins and ample fruit make the wine welcoming young but it will improve through 2035. - Anna Lee C Iijima, Wine Enthusiast. Black raspberries, flowers, and thyme notes are all over the place on the nose and palate. The wine offers intensity, richness, and multiple layers of ripe, spicy, red fruits and herbs. Drink from 2024-2036. - Wine Cellar Insider. Dark magenta. Vibrant cherry, black raspberry and candied flowers, plus a hint of blood orange and exotic spices, are highlighted on the incisive and finely detailed nose. Juicy and lithe on the palate, offering intense, mineral-accented red fruit, lavender, vanilla and baking spice flavors that stain the palate while showing no excess far. Closes extremely long and alluringly sweet, with a repeating floral note, polished tannins and a late touch of star anise. - Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media. Very dense, somewhat earthbound for now with an extremely dense tannic structure. Great energy and salinity, very vibrant with a lovely acid structure. Will take a long time to come round but will be good. Organically grown Grenache planted in 1870, planted on Miocene marls and yellow clay. Fermented in concrete, no destemming, indigenous yeasts, and matured 100% in barriques; 30% new, 30% second use, 30% third use. - Matt Walls, Decanter. Tasted blind. A little reductive on the nose – sweet fragrant spice. Round palate, lots of peppery spice and very fine and layered tannins. A savoury style with dark chocolate and lots of elegance. Wonderful purity of fruit will see this age effortlessly.-Alistair Cooper Mw, JancisRobinson. |
