| Description: | This appellation blend Chardonnay is a blend of two sites on opposite sides of Anderson Valley. The Valenti Ranch is a mid elevation (1250-1400ft) site on top of the west ridge of Anderson Valley 6 miles from the ocean. This steep hillside vineyard faces northeast, perched on a cool sandy slope. On the opposite side of the valley is Clow Ridge Vineyard which sits on a bench at approximately 1,000 ft facing southwest. The soils are a melange of ancient oceanic sedimentary materials that include gravelly sandy loams with high iron content, rocky quartzite, decomposed sandstone and shale with varying levels of clay. This mineral driven bright coastal Chardonnay leads with flintiness and lime zest on the nose with pear and citrus and crushed stones on the palate. A perfect seafood wine or whatever you can imagine really. There are no rules here. We are thinking oysters on the half shell or a grilled octopus salad would be epic with this zesty Chardonnay. |
