| Description: | The 2018 Beaune 1er Cru Cuvée Dames Hospitalières (Hospices de Beaune) offers up a lavishly oak-inflected bouquet of vanilla pod, warm spices and dark berry fruit, followed by a medium to full-bodied, round and fleshy palate that's sumptuous and enveloping, its charming core of fruit underpinned by velvety tannins and succulent acids. The combination of Le Moine and the Hospices—two producers known for their generous use of new oak—certainly results in a wine that's heavily marked by its élevage, but I wouldn't bet against it blossoming with bottle age, as it's structurally very refined. |
