Description: | Sometimes lightning strikes twice. We recently tasted the outstanding 2018 Petite Lune and selected it as our Wine of the Month. We previously featured the 2016 Vintage for the same honor. We are always on the prowl for wines that over deliver and offer delicious drinkability at an outstanding price. We found such a wine with La Petite Lune from the highly acclaimed 2018 vintage! This wine shows expressive aromatics, perfectly ripened fruit and is surprisingly complex. This again wowed our Hi-Time Buyers and had us scratching our heads when we confirmed the affordable price. The quality, value and drinkability are outstanding!. Wine critic James Suckling once again enjoyed Petite Lune after tasting it from barrel. Suckling gave this wine a score of 91-92 Points calling it, a "ripe, pretty red.with a delicious finish." We also enjoyed this and would call this a crowd-pleaser with plenty of up-front fruit in a full-bodied frame. La Petite Lune is a project from Olivier Bernard from the highly respected Domaine de Chevalier, with assistance from consultant StĂŠphane Derenoncourt. Their goal was to create a highly drinkable wine that reflects Olivier's values. Consider this mission accomplished!. The pedigree of the Chateau and terroir are reflected in this delicious blend of 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc. The vineyards for Petite Lune are located near Chevalier's famed vineyards in Graves. This is crafted to be a fine everyday drinker and is a symphony of pleasure with each of the components working together in perfect harmony. Eminently friendly and quaffable, this is still a serious wine and great example of what Bordeaux blends can offer, overdelivering in a big way. Buy and enjoy with confidence!. The 2018 La Petite Lune from Domaine de Chevalier represents an amazing value and in fact, we are able to offer this wine at the lowest price in the country at $11.89 per bottle!. The nose is quite attractive with forward scents of blackberries, fresh red cherries and kirsch, sandalwood, spice, earth and a hint of cinnamon. In the mouth, red cherry, currants and berries take the lead as moderate tannins and freshness keep the wine balanced. With a dense and pleasurable mouthfeel, this wine has a delicious and lengthy finish. |
