Winery: | Castello di Cacchiano |
Description: | Ruby red with garnet hues. Cherry and prune, followed by more complex aromas such as polished saddle leather and cigar box, all in excellent balance. Velvety and soft, almost genteel. In mid-palate it expands vigorously yet elegantly, showing its true purebred personality with a powerful structure. The Cacchiano Castle is located in the heart of the Chianti region and was founded in the 10th century by the Ricasoli family, a prestigious noble family with Longobard origins dating back to the age of Charlemagne. The Ricasoli family has owned the castle for more than 1.000 years. The numerous archaeological finds discovered in this area and their particular relevance prove that the origins of the castle go back to the Roman period. During the Middle Age, the Castle of Cacchiano, which was situated in the territory belonging to the city of Florence, played a crucial role in the battles between Florence and Siena defending, together with the Castle of Brolio, the Florentine territory first against the Sienese and their alleys and then against the Aragonese. |
