Lincourt Steel Chardonnay

Lincourt Steel Chardonnay

Description: Tasting Notes:. When we produced our first steel Chardonnay, we had no idea it would eventually become one of our most popular wines. From day one, the secret to our success has been the high quality of fruit from our estate Rancho Santa Rosa and Rancho Las Hermanas vineyards. This 2011 is both lively and concentrated, a rare vinous feat. The aromatics combine kiwi, mandarin zest and honeycomb. The palate is crisp and minerally with notes of lemons and green apples. As with its predecessors, this stainless Steel Chardonnay is perfect as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to grilled chicken or fresh fish. Vineyard Notes:. 100% Sta. Rita Hills. Rancho Las Hermanas & Rancho Santa Rosa Vineyards. Production Notes:. When Bill Foley founded Lincourt in 1996, the Sta. Rita Hills region of Santa Barbara County was largely undiscovered. Today it is one of Californias most coveted, cool-climate, viticultural regions. Lincourt wines are produced entirely from our two estate vineyards within the Ava. They are rolling, hillside sites that offer limiting soils, large diurnal temperature swings and long, long growing seasons. Our wines are rich, structured, fruit forward and regionally exact. At Lincourt, we believe that a vibrant, living environment has a positive effect on the health of the vines and the character and quality of the wines. To ensure the vitality of our land and the authenticity of our wines, we use sustainable methods in all of our farming, winemaking and business practices. Winemaker Notes:. The grapes were handpicked in the cool, early morning hours to retain fruit integrity. After whole cluster pressing, the juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks using a special yeast strain that is ideal for cool-climate Chardonnay. To emphasize freshness, varietal purity and regional character, malolactic fermentation was prevented. Production:. Released May, 2012. Wine Type: White Wine. Varietal: Chardonnay. Varietal Composition:. 98% Chardonnay. 2% Gr?ner Veltliner. Appellation: Santa Rita Hills. Acid: 7.6 g/L. Ph: 3.58. Barrel Aging:. 100% Stainless Steel. Bottling Date: March, 2012. Alcohol %: 13.9 Region Description. Commercial vineyards were literally non-existent in the region until the 1890's. In 2001 it gained its Ava recognition. The Santa Rita Hills run east to west inside the Santa Ynez Valley. The valley creates a natural channel allowing cool ocean air from the Pacific Ocean to flow through the valley. The micro climate created in the Santa Rita Hills area is well-suited for growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
