Plymouth Navy Strength Gin 750ml
Description: | Plymouth Gin has been in prodction since 1793. Today the grain alcohol is made at Blackfriars Distillery, which itself dates from the 15th century. Today, Blackfriars is owned by Coats Distillery, home of Plymouth gin. The label is now owned by Pernod-Ricard as part of a merger in 2008. Plymouth Navy Strength gin is a re-launch of an older recipe and chimes in at a huge and unusual 114 proof. It is said that it was the proof at which gunpowder--if soaked in gin--would still ignite making it invaluable for the British Navy. It uses the same unique blend of seven botanicals which makes up the classic 80 proof version but bottled at a higher proof. They suggest serving it with a Gimlet. |
