| Description: | This is the latest project from winemaker Greg La Follette, who has been part of the teams at Bv, Flowers, DeLoach, and others. Van der Kamp vineyard was first planted on the north slope of an old volcano, and was designed to be a sparkling wine vineyard in the 1950s. The cross-breezes from the Petaluma Gap immediately to the west and the San Pablo Bay to the south ensure slow, steady ripening. The oldest of these Pinot Noir vines are from the 1950s, making them among the oldest in Sonoma County. A miniscule 48 cases were produced of this wine, and the wine's floral aromas and forest floor burst forth followed by baking spices, particularly cinnamon and nutmeg. Red fruit with hints of watermelon, stone fruit and strawberry cream dance along the palate finessed by high mountain tannins and balanced acidity. |
