From Champagne

Description: 97 De / 93 Wa / 93 JS / 93 Wi / 92 Vp / 91 Vm. Vinepair Best Champagnes of 2022. Best in Show 2021 Decanter World Wine Awards. 43% Pinot Noir, 37% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot Meunier. The pink wave sweeping the wine world at present hasn't left Champagne behind - but Champagne's way with pink wine is as distinctive as the rest of its wine offer. You cannot make wines here which are vanishingly pale, petal-pretty and evanescent: there is just too much character, strike and drive on offer in Champagne's raw materials. There are many great Champagne ripostes to the pink festival of restraint elsewhere, but this salmon-copper rose, with its cavalier autumn fruits and its sheer breadth and audacity of flavour, struck our judges as one of the most memorable. Long, bold flavours subside slowly, vinously and lingeringly in this great gastronomic rose wine. - Decanter. Based on 2008 and 20% younger reserve wines (averaging five-years-old) the Nv Rose Reserve includes 5% red wine. Disgorged in early 2015, this cuv'e shows a delicate bouquet that leads to a lovely, pure, elegant, intense and complex palate that is full of finesse and tension. The finish is long and salty, very clear and nicely dry. Great aging potential. Drink 2016 - 2022. Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate. The Heidsieck toastiness on the nose takes center stage ahead of pink grapefruit and grilled peaches. The palate rolls into ripe red cherry flavors with smooth, nutty phenolics coating the finish. Terrific balance. Drink now. - James Suckling. Very pale salmon in color, the Rosé Réserve Nv has an attractive floral nose with teasingly ripe notes of red fruit, kumquat and pomegranate. The medium-bodied palate has a lithe acid line running throughout to accent red forest fruits with hints of spice and chalk through the long, lovely finish. A blend of 40% each of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay plus 20% Pinot Meunier; 5% of the Pinot Noir from Les Riceyes is always pre-blended with the best Pinot Meunier from the vintage, then added to the same assemblage as the Brut Reserve which includes 30% of reserve wines in the blend. This is a complex and well-crafted Nv rosé with nine gram per liter dosage. - Sarah Mayo, Wine Independent. The richness and balance of this Champagne make it a great choice for celebration on a (relatively) modest budget. Persistent bubbles and fruity flavors, reminiscent of strawberries and cream, bring depth to each sip. Pair with artisanal cheeses and veggie-based dips. - Vinepair. Charles Heidsieck Ros' R'serve Brut (one-third each Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier; 11 g/l dosage; L130297 3835): Light, bright orange. Intensely perfumed scents of raspberry, orange zest, white flowers and chalky minerals. Juicy and precise in the mouth, offering vibrant red berry and blood orange flavors and a complicating hint of brioche. The floral quality comes back strong on the very long, incisive finish, which features a subtle anise quality and smoky minerality. About 20% of the Pinot Noir here was in the form of still red wine. Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media. *Note: reviews are for reference and may not reflect the actual disgorge date/base vintage available.
