Côt is Malbec, giving crunchy black fruit and spicy aromas, while Pineau d'Aunis is a local Loire grape which lends a firm, tannic grip. Add in the red fruit and herbaceous character of Cabernet Franc, and you have the perfect Loire wine: fragrant, medium bodied with vibrant acidity and aromas of blackberry, tart strawberry, and black pepper. Like a firmer, more gripping Beaujolais. |
