Cheval Blanc (750ML)
From Saint-Emilion

Description: | 98 Vm / 97 Wci. The 1955 Cheval Blanc is utterly divine – even better than the bottle tasted in 2014. Quite clear and deep in color, it is blessed with a heavenly bouquet: ripe and vivacious red fruit, iodine, tobacco, sous-bois and mint, all wonderfully focused and as energetic as the day it was born. The beautifully balanced palate delivers supple tannins and impressive depth, quite Left Bank in style, with expressive Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. It is structured yet precise and effortless on the finish. If I may use the word with which I summed up this wine before: regal. Served at dinner by Mr. Kelley in Beaune. - Neal Martin, Vinous Media. Another great showing for this stellar wine. The purity of fruit stands out here. There is still freshness, silky textures and layers of sweet, ripe cherries that are complicated by the wet earth, floral and tobacco nuances. If you find a well-stored example, this is worth taking a chance on.-Jeff Leve, Wine Cellar Insider, tasted 9/18 |
