Croix de Beausejour (750ML)

From Saint-Emilion

Vintage: 2023
Description: 92 Ja / 92 De / 90-92 Vm / 89-91 Jd / 88-90 Wi. Enticingly rich raspberry and red cherry fruits on the opening, supple and welcoming without sacrificing precision and an effortless balance of red liqourice, saffron, lemongrass and pumice stone. A delicious 2nd wine. 46hl/h yield, 40% new oak. - Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux. Smells fresh and floral, dark fruits but bright and super expressive. Clean and clear, crystalline - super tangy and zingy, but stops short of being tart and too lean. Definite element of chalkiness on the palate, but pixelated, you feel the soft grip of the tannins, a touch of wet stone with ripe dark fruit but not too chewy. Subtle and delicate, nicely finessed with so much drinkability on offer. Really quite charming and mouthwatering in a delicate way. Tastes slightly creamy as well as fresh on the finish. Lovely. Ageing 14-16 months, 40% new oak. - Georgina Hindle, Decanter. The 2023 Croix de Beauséjour, primarily Merlot, emerges from the lower hillsides and flatter sections of the vineyard. It's a gorgeous, vibrant wine endowed with striking purity of fruit. Bright acids and floral top notes lend energy throughout. This is beautifully done. -- Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media. The 2023 Croix De Beauséjour (Duffau-Lagarrosse) checks in as 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc from healthy yields of 46 hectoliter per hectare, brought up in 40% new oak. It has a classic 2023 nose of bright red and black fruits as well as ample spicy, savory herb notes, and that classy, chalky minerality of the terroir. It's medium-bodied, juicy, and balanced, with soft tannins and ample charm. - Jeb Dunnuck. A blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, the 2023 Croix de Beausejour is ageing in oak barrels, of which 40% are new. It has a deep garnet-purple color and it gives up notes of juicy blackberries, fresh mulberries, and cranberry preserves, followed by hints of wet slate, wild thyme, and tilled soil. The medium-bodied palate has vivacious red berry flavors, with great tension and soft, approachable tannins, finishing on a savory note. - Lisa Perotti-Brown, Wine Independent
