Description: | Chateau Poitevin, Médoc Cru Bourgeois, Bordeaux, France 2015 {sustainable} 55% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Petit Verdot Modern Style; Silky Fruit Liqueur, Soft Vanilla In 1855 Bordeaux's top chateaux sorted themselves into five classes, based on the prices the wines sold for at the time, but things have changed a lot in the last 150 years. While most of those venerable producers still make world-class wine, many newer chateaux do as well. Hence, the "Cru Bourgeois," the creme de la creme of the Medoc's other estates, like Guillame Poitevin's. Founded by his grandfather in the 50s, Guillaume's chateau makes wines with an intriguing modern approachability from this traditional home of Merlot and Cabernet. Serving suggestion: Oven-baked beef ribs w/ a cocoa/coffee dry rub. Roasted autumn veggies, like carrots & sweet potatoes, sprinkled w/ cinnamon & nutmeg. |
