Thienot La Vigne aux Gamins Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru (1.5L)

Thienot La Vigne aux Gamins Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru (1.5L)

From Champagne

Vintage: 2010
Description: 97 De / 17 Jr. Racy and thrilling, this hits the spot in terms of direct and punchy yellow fruit flavours - lemon, grapefruit, orange and quince with a crisp texture and fine bubbles that fill the mouth. Such tension and precision. It has a sharp yet also mouthwatering acidity giving you a push pull of intensity and generosity. It's super dry and gives a raciness to the overall impression with very tiny hints of sweetness providing the round feel that's so appealing. Shines brightly and still feels so youthful, such a long ageing potential yet. I like the energy and the persistence here, it's clean and finessed. Not trying too hard but so easy to drink. 100% Chardonnay of white 90% comes from grands crus vineyards. Dosage 4g/L. Disgorged February 2022.-Georgina Hindle, Decanter. Admirably informative back label. 90% grand cru Chardonnay mainly from Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Disgorged March 2022 after 11 years' ageing. Dosage 4 g/l. 3,300 bottles produced. No malo. Lots of development on the nose. I should imagine this was quite challenging to taste early in its life but is just reaching a point where the tension is not too demanding and the wine now has great life and citrus fruit. Perhaps not quite as persistent as the 2008 Cuvée Alain Thiénot but distinctive and a definite addition to the champagne canon. Tastes bone dry in the lemon/lime spectrum. Clean as a whistle. It's just coming into its own and can offer bracing precision now. Not for hedonists but it should please purists. Long.-Jancis Robinson
