| Description: | Second Growth powerhouse Cos d'Estournel represents the epitome of Saint Estephe wines and great Bordeaux. In 2024 the estate became fully organic, after decades of sustainable and organic methods in the vineyards. On average, the vines are about 40 years of age with Cabernet Sauvignon leading the plantings at 60%. The estate has very old Merlot vines as well, which date back more than 100 years, as well as Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, grown on the estate's vines, which are planted on two hillsides and a central plateau. The vines are exposed to ideal sun and ventilation. Thanks to their ever deeper root systems, their proximity to the Gironde Estuary and its breezes, and the ongoing dedication of our teams in the vineyard, the vines of Cos d'Estournel Blanc have produced a 2022 vintage with astonishing balance, remarkable density, and an ethereal character, made of 74% Sauvignon Blanc and 26% Sémillon. The 2022 vintage delivers a harmonious balance between the generosity of the estate's Sémillon, which lend an enveloping yet weightless quality to the wine, and the fresh, elegant minerality of its Sauvignon Blanc. Notes of pear, lemon, beeswax, and lily of the valley offer wonderful complexity with a long finish that leaves no doubt as to the vintage's great aging potential. Unique in character, Cos d'Estournel Blanc evokes the coolness of sea spray and salty sea winds whipping one's face while also conjuring the warmth and richness of the land. A generous, lively wine, it brings to mind a slice of bread spread thickly with quince jam, a sun-drenched stall of autumn fruit or sudden recollections of the sweetest summer moments. Serve with all types of seafood and chicken dishes, braised and grilled vegetables, as well as with fine cheeses, especially D'Affinois Brebicet sheep's milk and Comté Gruyère with Dijon mustard. |
