| Description: | 93 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. The current release of the Nv Estate Brut is made up mainly of fruit from the 2015 vintage. It is a blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir and was made with about ten grams per liter dosage. Disgorged in October of 2018, it has a fresh, open nose with pure fruit expression: crushed apples, pears and lemon peel mingle with touches of stone, flowers and toast. The medium-bodied palate offers a lovely dichotomy of toasty fruits with uplifted citrusy, minerally accents with a finely beaded mousse, and it finishes long and ultra fresh. First overall in the sparkling category. Louis Roederer's outpost in California's cool Anderson Valley is a stylistic chip off the old block. The blend includes a considerable portion of reserve wine that's been oak-aged, making for a rich, weighty mouthful of creamy bubbles. Malolactic fermentation is suppressed in order to preserve acidity but a healthy dosage of 12g/l adds to its girth. What this sparkler lacks in zip, it makes up in texture and concentration. There's toasty character from the lees aging and brighter notes of red fruit, hinting at raspberries. The Roederer Estate version is a perennial favorite among basic Brut bottlings hereabouts, and this latest version maintains its accustomed place as one of the more rewarding examples at the price. It is at once bright and youthfully fruity with comfortably joined yeast in play at every stop, and, from its careful balance and quiet complexity to its very fine and unending mousse, it is hard not to appreciate its precision and winemaking polish.
