Paolo Scavino Barolo

Paolo Scavino Barolo

Vintage: 2019
Description: Wine Spectator 93 Points - "a supple, vibrant Barolo, with fine depth to the cherry, raspberry and floral aromas and flavors. Solidly built, with refined tannins and a long, juicy aftertaste. Reveals earth, iron and tobacco accents that linger. Best from 2026 through 2042." - B.s. Jeb Dunnuck 92 Points - "Pouring a jeweled ruby hue, the 2019 Barolo is lovely and detailed, with floral perfume and notes of candied roses, raspberry preserves, and sweet baking spices. This medium-bodied red is mouthwatering from the start and is balanced with ripe red berries, orange peel, and cinnamon. Fine yet present tannins are propelled forward by fresh acidity and a mineral-tinged finish. I continue to be impressed with the direction this estate has been heading in, and this wine is certainly no exception, lending great insight into the work they have put in. Drink 2024-2034.". It's often best to let young Barolos like these unwind and soften for at least a few more years after release, but if you open one sooner, we suggest letting the wine open up in a decanter for several hours and pairing with flavor-rich savory dishes!. Founded back in 1921, the winery developed into its modern form under Paolo's son, Enrico, who has in turn passed operations on to his daughters Enrica and Elisa. They inherited Enrico's openness to continual improvements in their vineyards and winemaking, and it shows in the quality of the wines today. As they have grown over the decades, they have ended up with access to one of the widest ranges of vineyards in the Barolo appellation.
