Three Petite Sirah

Description: | Petite Sirah at its best. Inky-dark in color. Indeed, Cline says one of his customers uses this in their fountain pens. Very, very rich, opulent and textured – but with the smooth suppleness only Petite Sirah seems to retain in a wine so big. This one is a mouth filler!. No press for this 2016 yet, and we're the only store to have any. The last vintage reviewed, 2014, was a lighter one, but still earned 92 points and a Cellar Selection from the Wine Enthusiast:. This is a classy, dry and firmly structured wine from the warm climate and sandy soils of Contra Costa County. It has an extremely dark color, tight aromas of just-ripe fruit and black pepper, and focused, concentrated flavors of black berry and cherry. Balanced and full yet not overpowering in body, it is a great candidate for further aging. The 2016, of course, is even fuller, richer and more concentrated. As substantial and satisfying as $20 red wine gets. |
