Jack Ryan Raglan Road 5 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey 700ml
Whiskey
Description: | Manufacturer's Notes: In the 1890's, Tipperary man Thomas Ryan, whose father Michael and Grandfather John were barley growers and distillery men - Walker's Limerick and Birch's Roscrea - came from Toomevara in Dublin. The second city of the Hanoverian Union of Great Britain and Ireland was also - and more to the point - the whiskey capital of the world, home to legendary distilleries. Following a long apprenticeship in the vintner's trade, he specialised in what became his life's passion - to source, finish and bottle his own malt whiskey. Ryan's Malt became a firm favourite of Dubliners, Thomas supplying the trade and dispensing in his own private houses. Son Jack, consummate whiskey man and publican par excellence, carried on the tradition until Irish whiskey's decline and (almost) fall brought a pause. His son Eunan, born to the drinks trade, resolved to revive the tradition, and plans he hatched in the 2000's culminated in the establishment of The Jack Ryan Whiskey Company, with a clear focus on quality finishing of premium single malt. " Ryan's Malt " was revived a century after it all began, with the release of Jack Ryan 12YO Single Malt. It garnered a San Francisco Gold and Best in Class in the prestigious Irish Whiskey Awards. Meanwhile Irish whiskey has resumed its rightful place in the world and the future looks bright. The "Jack Ryan" labels honour Jack Ryan himself, and capture him in pensive and contented pose in the first of a string of pubs set up by Thomas Ryan in the early 20th century - the iconic Beggars Bush pub, still in family hands since 1913. Jack Ryan Whiskey Company plans further small-batch premium single malt releases, expertly finished as every - the Ryan way. Jack Ryan presents this 5 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey, a collaboration Ryan finish fashioned in Brehon Brewhouse Imperial Stout Casks, aged in Bourbon and Madeira, Spring barley poetry, composed in Monaghan and Dublin, writ large in stony grey soil and storied streets, rugged and tender, tastes that speak the passionate heart. Raglan Road, Ballsbridge, a hundred years or so from Kavanagh's unrequited love - vanity's vapour now, echoes of the poet's ache.
