Filipa Pato Extra Bruto 3b Rose Unfiltered Metodo Tradicional
Description: | Filipa Pato is the fifth generation of her family to make wine. Not content to learn her craft in her family's vineyard, she set out to study winemaking in other parts of the world and returned to Portugal to start her own winery in 2001. Her mission is to express the terroir of the Bairrada region, located in the western part of Beira province south of the Douro Valley. Filipa is also intent on showcasing Baga, an indigenous red grape of the region noted for high tannin and acidity. Bairrada and Baga are two of the "B's" that were inspiration for the 3b name of this wine. The other B comes from Bical, a white Portuguese wine variety with Riesling-like qualities. This edition is 80% Baga and 20% Bical. Fruity and fresh, with good persistence on the finish, this is a perfect aperitif style. It is lively but tasty, the fresh berry fruit is well braced by acidity. A great patio quaffer that is best drunk young. "Metodo Tradicional" is the firm's nomenclature for "Cava" or "Methode Champenoise". |
