G.D. Vajra Albe Barolo

G.D. Vajra Albe Barolo

Nebbiolo

Vintage: 2018
Description: Robert M. Parker's Wine Advocate : 9 4 Points " If you were to consider the entire portfolio of wines made in the Barolo appellation, this wine always stands in its own little corner. Albe is a brand on its own, and it represents one of the most versatile, accessible and well-priced Baroli to emerge from the appellation. The G.d. Vajra 2016 Barolo Albe sets off on the right foot, offering forthcoming intensity with forest fruit, wild cherry, crushed stone and blue flowers. Winemaking is straightforward in stainless steel, and the wine finishes in Slavonian oak casks.". This Albe bottling is a classic style of Barolo created from three separate vineyards all at varying altitudes and exposures. A traditional Barolo, character and refined balance are hallmarks here, and a beautiful, broad palate with Vajra's classically ripe tannins emerges in great harmony. Authentic. Bright ruby color. Red fruit and plum flavors, flowers, pine needles and a finish that reminds of bushes. Albe is the harmony of sophisticated and delicate perfumes, supported by an elegant acidity and ripe tannins. Renowned for artful Nebbiolo extraction, Vajra produces fresh, fruit-driven wines with profound aromatic depth, a difficult task since Nebbiolo tends toward the tannic end of the spectrum when grown in the compressed sandstone soils that dominate Serralunga d'Alba and Monforte d'Alba. These wines are uniformly excellent with outstanding character and depth. As Parker's Wine Advocate attests, "Aldo and Milena Vajra craft some of the most beautiful, original wines in all of Italy. Frankly, it is impossible to go wrong with any of these superb bottles."
