| Description: | Fanti has been making olive oil for 200 years and for a family to have that kind of dedication to anything for so long and to stay in business speaks for itself. That dedication and attention to detail comes in handy when adding wine to the mix. In the 1970s, when Filippo Fanti took over the family business, he decided to convert half of his olive groves to vineyards and redesigned the 300 hectare estate to accommodate both olive oil and wine. He planted mostly Sangiovese Grosso as with their location in Southern Montalcino it begged for Brunello to be made on this property. For decades Filippo was the one in the vineyards, at the sorting table and in the cellar making sure the quality of his little Brunello would be the best possible and, with his daughter Elisa's help from 2007 onward, the duo has been making some of the very best affordable Brunellos in Montalcino. |
