| Description: | About the Winery - The Mullineux Family Wines, established in 2007 in the Swartland region of South Africa, is owned and managed by Chris and Andrea Mullineux. The vineyards are farmed organically and are in the process of becoming Regenerative Organic certified. Winery Tasting Notes - The adapted natural resilience of the dry land Schist Syrah on Roundstone, has resulted in this wine showing pure freshness and superb concentration. The aromas show beautiful hints of Bergamot orange, fragrant dark African violets and nutmeg and the palate is lead by well-structured and harmonious Shist-derived firm tannins. This vintage has phenomenal ageing potential and would be best served at 16 to 18 C. Decanting is recommended when the wine is opened in its youth. Wine Advcoate 95 Points - "Year after year, the Schist Vineyard site gives them 20% smaller grapes than the Granite Vineyard site. The 2021 Schist Syrah is dusty and floral with elegant and powerful red and black peppercorn tones that seduce the nose. Medium-bodied, the palate reveals a fresh, herbal and savory essence that's beautifully balanced with flavors of dark cherry skin while offering a firm tannic edge. Delivering incredible mineral tension, this devastatingly gorgeous Syrah will have no trouble aging for over two decades. Bravo!" |
