Brunello di Montalcino Azienda Tornesi 750ml

Vintage: 2016
Description: Grapes: 100% Brunello (Sangiovese Grosso). Region: Italy> Tuscany> Brunello di Montalcino. Notes: Native yeasts, minimal intervention, hand-harvested, no herbicides, 24-30 months in Slovenian oak. Description: The Tornesi family has owned their estate, known as Le Benducce, since 1750, long before Brunello di Montalcino became known as a wine, before Italy became a unified nation. The vineyards are 400 meters above sea-level and has proven advantageous in terms of drainage and soil composition to grower Maurizio Tornesi, his father Gino, and consulting oenologist Paolo Vagaggini. The winery is still family operated, with Maurizio Tornesi at the helm of both viticulture and winemaking. A true Tuscan farmer who knows the land of Montalcino and the Sangiovese Grosso grape like the back of his hand. The 2016 was an excellent year in the Montalcino zone of Tuscany, this Brunello di Montalcino is a approachable now but will continue to improve with age. Brickish red color and upon opening the wine immediately opens with aromas of Balsamic, leather, and currants. On the palate it will show some light gripping tannins that will settle after 2 hours of decanting. Notes of sweaty leather, sweet tannins, wood root, and worcestershire on the palate. Medium-bodied wine that continues to change complexity with aeration. Food pairings: Aged cheeses (Gouda, Asiago, Pecorino), roasted duck, game, lamb chops, mushrooms, oxtails, etc.
