| Description: | Henry Mckenna bourbon has a peppery pinch to the spicy nose, which fits perfectly with the dark brooding nature of the beast. The slightly singed toast acts as a perfect counter to the mint and orange rind. Really complex and tempting. Taste: Wow! Loads of everything. As you might expect from the nose. A deep, satin-smooth oak and burnt sugar backdrop allows the malt and rye to have a big say. Lots of vanilla, too. Finish: Here, as it dries, the corn comes into dominance. Some vanilla toffee, too. Comments: Magnificent stuff from Heaven Hill that really is worth hunting for. Henry Mckenna bourbon is a good, traditional bourbon nose with a nice balance of vanilla, caramel, oak, and a light herbaceous note in the background; the body is medium, leaning toward full, and the palate shows a good balance of sharp spices, honey and sweetness, and a touch of mint; the finish is very spicy. Overall: If you like your bourbon whiskey spicy, this one's for you. Drink it on the rocks. Aromas of charcoal and sweet citrus. Good depth richness with caramel and charcoal flavors; sweet and spicy finish. |
