Description: | Winemaker's Notes:. Que Syrah was planted in 1993 by Al and Virginia Rago above the town of Occidental about two miles inland from the Pacific. This is the oldest planting of Syrah on the Sonoma Coast and the Ragos are true mavericks in cool climate farming of this grape variety in California. The wine is electrifying in its spicy aromatic personality and fills the glass with a mix of brilliant fuchsia color and vibrant briary fruit. Que Syrah has already shown great potential in their cellar and we look forward to unlocking its riches for years to come. 95 Points - Vinous / Antonio Galloni - "The 2014 Que Syrah Vineyard is another deep, super-intense Syrah. Specifically, the interplay of varietal aromatics and deep, pliant fruit - rare to see in the same site - play off each other in a wine that dazzles from start to finish. Inky blue/purplish fruit, spices, mint, lavender and dark spices add shades of nuance on the long, beautifully persistent finish. Like all the Arnot-Roberts Syrahs, the Que Syrah was done with 100% whole clusters and aged in neutral oak. " |
