Château-Malbat Bordeaux Rouge ">

Cabernet Sauvignon

Vintage: 2020
Winery: Château-Malbat
Description: Alphonse Rochet bought Château Malbat in 1865 during the reign of Napoléon III which was also during the phylloxera epidemic. In spite of these being troubled times for the wines of Bordeaux, Alphonse succeeded in building the foundations of the vineyard, which has since been passed on successfully from generation to generation. Today, Fabienne, Martine and Daniel Rochet manage the family estate and intend to pass it on to the next generation further. The vineyard stretches across the limestone slopes of La Réole, south-east of Bordeaux. They are in the southern hills of the Entre-deux-Mers, close to the river Garonne. The oceanic climate ( Atlantique effect) brings high levels of both humidity and sunshine, leading to wines with the complex bouquet that is special to Bordeaux. After a carefully well-sorted harvest, the winemaker proceeds to a cold maceration in vats in order to softly extract the different components of the grapes, such as tannins or aromas. This will help to make a rounder and finer wine. Over the next month, the alcoholic fermentation takes place at low temperature, always in order to follow a soft extraction. Aging is made in stainless steel vats to keep the purity of the fruit. 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. This Bordeaux has a lovely deep purple color with ripe fruit aromas, particularly black cherry, blackberry and plum. On the medium-bodied palate, cassis, mint and licorice are revealed with a fruit-driven and supple body. The tannins are quite round and the finish is smooth. Quelle belle surprise in this pricepoint! Pair with red meat, roasted vegetables, cheese and charcuterie and more.
