Komsas Gin Satsuma Japanese Tangerine 49% 375ml Distilled Kagoshima, Japan; (special Order 1 Week)

Description: History,. Gin produced in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan by Komasa Jyozo, Co. Base distillate is 100% rice shochu. Botanicals include juniper, coriander, and Sakurajima Komikan, Japan's smallest mandarin orange, averaging about 4 cm in diameter Gentle and bright without overpowering its elegant shochu base while highlighting the juicy, sweet nature of the Sakurajima Komikan with a throughline of delicate juniper structure. The Sakurajima komikan, Japan's smallest orange, takes its name from the active volcano around which it grows, requiring laborious care and enjoying a one-month-long harvest season each year. Local grower's must brush the fruit skin by hand to remove ash that falls from the nearby active volcano from which the orange takes its name; this is done to avoid damage to the fruit that the ash incurs. An excellent addition to Skurnik's growing selection of sippable gins, Komasa is also extremely enjoyable with a splash of club soda or fresh orange juice. Tasting Notes,.
