Chateau Mongravey Margaux

Chateau Mongravey Margaux

Bordeaux Blend

Vintage: 2014
Description: This 13 hectare Estate created in 1981 is established in Arsac in the heart of the Margaux Appellation. The entire vineyard is made of several plots of vines on a gravely soil from the Garonne area and dating from the quaternary period. It is a blend of 60% cabernet sauvignon, 38% Merlot and 2% cabernet franc. Cru Bourgeois since the 2003 classification, the vines from Chateau Mongravey are located amongst the prestigious 1855 Grands Clus Classes of the Margaux appellation. Chateau Mongravey produces delicate wines typical of the Margaux appellation; that will perfectly accompany the most subtle cuisine. The tasting of Chateau Mongravey will offer you pure moments of happiness and emotion bringing to your table elegance and prestige. Producer Starting from a small vineyard in the Margaux appellation, inherited from his father in 1980, Regis Bernaleau has expanded his properties to include Chateau de Braude, AOC Haut Medoc, Chateau Galland, AOC Moulis and Chateau Mongravey, AOC Margaux. Nowadays, the 21 hectares composing these three estates are divided between 13ha for the Margaux appellation, 7ha5 for the Haut Medoc appellation and 1 hectare for the Moulis appellation. The vineyard is managed with carefully controlled use of chemical products and always with the highest respect for the vines. Heavy investments have been undertaken. The stainless steel vat room allows for vinification by parcel while thermo- regulation offers total control over temperature during vinification. The air-conditioned cellar, equipped with 450 French oak barrels made by ten different coopers, ensures complexity and quality in the maturing wine. Since 2000, Karin Bernaleau has used both her talent and her natural ability to communicate to develop both the trade and marketing aspects of the chateaux. In 2003, our hard work and rigour were rewarded by the classification of Chateau Mongravey and Chateau de Braude as Crus Bourgeois at the time of the historical revision of the classification of the Medoc's Crus Bourgeois. In 2009, Jerome Bernaleau, Regis' youngest son, joined the estate and now uses his technical expertise to continue to improve the wine's quality. In 2011, he took over 1 hectare of vines in Moulis and created Chateau Galland on one of the most promising terroirs of the appellation.
