So we lovingly take each bottle, hand label it, dip it in wax, number it, encircle it with a metal band, then place it in a straw-filled wooden box reminiscent of days past. Finally, with a nod to modern merchandising, we substitute a clear Plexiglas sliding panel for wood, so that all this handwork can be viewed at retail and at home. At the San Francisco Spirits Competition held recently, Old Rum was honored with a Double Gold Medal. Region Description. \"Rum\" is a fermented spirit that was developed in the Caribbean and is produced from sugarcane juice and/ or molasses. Most rum is aged for at least one year before bottling.
