| Description: | "This is a fresh and dark-fruited red showing notes of blackberries, black plums, olives and dried herbs on the nose. Medium-bodied, compact and sleek, with fine tannins and a stony minerality at the end." - James Suckling. Made from old vines of around 30 different local varieties of the Douro Valley! This wine is made with the traditional foot-stomping in stone vats while fermentation quickly runs its course. Malolactic fermentation and an 18-month aging is done in French oak. Couple Sandra Tavares da Silva & Jorge Serdio Borges started with their single-vineyard wine project, Pintas, in 2001. They soon needed a wine for more everday purposes, which was also more approachable when released. The Pintas "Character" was born from 5 new plots surrounding the Pitnas vineyard. |
