| Description: | Winemaker's Notes: Located east of Napa, our Mt George Vineyard is the site of one of the first grape plantings in the valley in the 19th century. The deep soils derived from volcanic shale and tufa yield Merlot fruit of power and structure. Tasting Notes: Hailing from a cooler-climate area just east of downtown Napa, where it's grown on gravelly soils of volcanic rock, this red offers up ripe mulberry, coffee, and pencil shavings. A big, bold character emerges with dusty tannins and a mineral core. Aged 16 months in French oak. - Tasting Panel, 93 pts. |
