| Description: | In the fall of 1894, an intrepid caravan of settlers began unpacking their lives on a hillside just outside Santa Rosa, CA. Fueled by the invigorating optimism of starting a new life, they ventured to start an experiment in search of a more harmonious existence. The place they called Altruria would become one of California's first Utopian colonies. This wine has an abundance of dark fruit aromas including boysenberry and blackberry along with tobacco and worn leather provide a very savory and intriguing nose. The flavor profile leads with spice notes of vanilla bean, clove and nutmeg. Dark cherries and briary fruit carry a robust mid-palate. The velvet-textured tannins frame a beautiful structure to the wine which finishes very dry in this vintage and offers a lengthy and complex finish. This vintage of Altruria is ideal to enjoy anytime within the next 5-7 years. |
