Pike Creek 10 Year Old Whiskey
Description: | Pike Creek 10 Year Old Whisky. Pike Creek is a Windsor, Ontario suburb that is home to Hiram Walkers warehouses. The whisky made its celebrated return to store shelves in 2012 when it was re-released with the previously extinct Lot 40. Pike Creek 10 Year Old is a top notch Canadian whisky which gets treated to a finishing period in rum barrels before bottling previously Pike Creek was finished in Port casks, though the produced changed it to rum barrels at some point in the 2010s. The Canadian release of Pike Creek is a 10 year old rye whisky aged in white oak barrels then finished in port pipes. This Pike Creek expression takes that same 10 year old rye whisky, jacks up the Abv to 42% and adds a splash of rye to the corn whisky blend. Then, instead of port pipes, its finished in rum barrels. Tasting Notes. "Rich brown sugar and vanilla cannonball out of the bottle hitting you square with rum barrel influences. Fresh dark fruits such as figs and plums let you know the rum cannonball is a Vaudeville act. Honeycomb and toffee drift to vanilla-cola sand blasted with juicy rye grain spice. These flavors are accentuated by a creamy palate laced with molasses. A striking mix of fresh-cut lumber and whisky-saturated wood supports Pike Creek from the first whiff to the last dwindling moment. The flare up of citrus zest in the finish is the perfect ending to this re-imaging of a classic. " |
