Triple-distilled from 100% malted barley, the inaugural release of the Bushmills 30 Year Old was first aged in hand-selected bourbon barrels and Oloroso sherry butts for 14 years along the cold north coast of Ireland. The whiskey was then married and further aged in Pedro Ximenez sherry casks for 14 years, casks that were seasoned for 2 years in Jerez's precious fortified wine. Tasting Notes,. Nose: Rich inviting sweet aromas of raisins, figs, prunes, and dates entwined with treacle toffee, soft clove and sweet spice delighted the senses. Palate: Exquisite, velvety and smooth mouth feel. Sweet hints of dates, raisins and figs followed by praline and orange peel before developing into vanilla and warm pastry notes. A truly delightful experience for the palate. Finsih: Long complex finish that reminds you of the amazing number of years this whiskey has spent gaining its individual character. The dried fruit and toffee sweet notes are left lingering.
