Andrew Murray Syrah "TOUS Les JOURS" Central Coast 750mL

Vintage: 2021
Description: The weather here in the U.S. has warmed, and not only does that mean more camping in the mountains, boating on the lakes, and trips to the beach, but it also means more time to fire up those grills! And whether we're cooking up some ribs, steaks, chicken, or portobello mushrooms, Syrah is one of our go-to choices. So if you're like-minded, then boy have we landed a knockout of a wine for you!. Andrew Murray fell in love with the emerging Rhne varieties (Syrah and Viognier) in the late 1980's while traveling through France's Rhne Valley. Leaving his Uc Berkeley paleontology studies behind, he pursued his new mistress, Syrah, with an internship in Australia. Returning to the states, he earned a bachelor's degree in viticulture and enology from Uc Davis' renowned wine program, then founded his eponymous Santa Ynez winery and vineyard. Andrew and his family were drawn to the natural beauty, climate, soils, and topography of Santa Barbara County. It all reminded him of his travels through the Rhne Valley where he first fell in love with the notion of winegrowing while just a teenager. As Robert Parker, Jr. put it, ".Andrew Murray's offerings are a breath of fresh air given their exceptionally high quality and realistic prices - reader take note." Truly remarkable wines are not "made", rather, they are grown. It's all about soil and climate, or as the French would say, 'terroir'. The cool, coastal climate, uplifted, hilly topography, and ancient sea-bed soils converge to create the ideal terroir for wine grapes. Andrew Murray farms their vineyards sustainably to ensure they can harvest modest yields of impossibly high-quality fruit. "Tous les jours" translates to "every day".and this wine is just that, something that is easy enough on the pocket book so you can enjoy this just about any day you want! Comprised of Syrah from cool/cold vineyards for that raspberry and pepper, and warm vineyards for that ripe blackberry jaminess, the wine was aged entirely in French oak barrels for 16 months, something that is often reserved for wines that cost 2-3 times this price !. Respected critic Jeb Dunnuck just scored this wine at 91 points, and calls it "a smoking value". Long story short, if you're looking for a medium- to full-bodied red wine with lots of flavor, a wonderful score, and something that won't cost you a lot of money, then look no further! This is a fantastic wine to take to the neighborhood barbeque, social party, or dinner with your best friends!. Antonio Galloni 91 Points - "This is a gorgeous set of new releases from Andrew Murray. The top Syrahs are compelling, as they have been for quite some time now. As good as those wines are, I am once again so impressed with the Tous Les Jours, a Syrah that offers tons of quality for the money. Stylistically, the wines are rich and deep, but never overdone. I always leave this tasting wishing there were more wines!". "The 2021 Syrah Tous Les Jours is a total knock out and an unreal value. Sumptuous dark fruit, spice, licorice, mocha and dried flowers all race across the palate. This plump, juicy Syrah is an absolute joy to taste.". Jeb Dunnuck 91 Points - " A smoking value year-in, year-out, the 2021 Syrah Tous Les Jours offers juicy black and blue fruits as well as medium body, some peppery herb and leather notes, present tannins, and a clean, lengthy finish. It would be a great introduction to the wines of Murray and is well worth buying and drinking any time over the coming 4-6 years or thereabout."
