Domaine Eugene Carrel Jongieux Mondeuse Vin de Savoie

From Germany

Vintage: 2017
Description: Domain Eugene Carrel is family run and located in the Alpine hills of France in the Savoie wine village of Jongieux. Vineyards are situated between the foothills of the Charvaz Mountains, the Rhone River and France's largest lake, Bourget, providing a unique and warmer microclimate. This area gets 2-3 hours more sunlight than any other area of the cool Savoie. The vineyards are incredibly steep, at an altitude of 1400 feet, with soils of chalk and marl on pebbles. Jongieux is the village in which this Mondeuse is grown. Vin de Savoie Jongieux wines are either fresh, alpine white wines made from the Jacquere grape variety, or red, spicy, deep-flavored red wines made mostly from Mondeuse, Gamay, and Pinot Noir (or a blend of these red grapes). Mondeuse is related to the Syrah grape. Flavorful and aromatic! Aromas of black currants, raspberries and strawberries and spicy notes of anise and cumin. Generous palate with supple tannins, minerality, fresh acidity. Pair with Comte cheese, game (venison, buffalo), beef.
