Dutton-Goldfield McDougall Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir Rated 93WE

Vintage: 2014
Description: The availability of this product is limited and subject to change. Wine Enthusiast Review. Rated 93. The vineyard from which this wine is sourced sits along the Gualala River in view of the Pacific Ocean, enjoying coastal weather and elevations of up to 1,100 feet. Baked blueberry pie laced with clove is the first impression, supported by bright acidity. Exotic in profile, it imparts cedar and tea notes, its tannins fine yet tenacious. Wine Tasting Notes. The naturally substantial tannins of the high Sonoma ridges were coaxed into a lushness that normally takes years to acquire, while compromising none of the searing cranberry/cherry fruit, solid minerality and backbone that are the hallmark of the place. Aromas of Bing cherry, cranberry and pomegranate lead to nuances of chipped granite and sassafras. The impression in the mouth is that of exceptionally sweet but substan-tial, dusty tannins, which support the candied toffee/cherry and berry fruit. The tannins and acidity carry the floral and mineral notes though the lengthy, lively finish. The final impression is one of integration and completeness. Enjoy this wine now and for the next decade with grass-fed beef, or on the deck with some Petite Basque and Gruyere.
