Smuggler's Reserve Jamaican Single Origin Aged Rum 700ml

Rum

Description: Manufacturer's Notes: On January 16, 1919 the United States of America voted itself dry. The state of Nebraska became the 36th state to ratify the 18th Amendment, with a three-fourth majority vote, making Prohibition an effective law one year from this date. Rum-running, the organized smuggling of importing rum and other liquor by sea and over land to the United States, became a highly profitable business once Prohibition took effect in 1920. During the 17th century, Jamaica was the largest sugar producing island in the Caribbean. The sugar and rum industry have always been tightly linked. The island gives home to some of the most iconic Rum distilleries of the Caribbean. Jamaican Rum producers are famous for creating fruity Rum types. This Rum has matured for a period of up to 5 years and has delicate notes of Banana, Vanilla, Caramel, Dark Molasses, and Barrel Char. One of the most famous periods of rum-running started in the United States when Prohibition began on January 16, 1920, when the Eighteenth Amendment went into effect. Notable rum-runners were seen at night running into remote areas with flat-bottom skiffs for running up on the beach, making their deliveries, and quickly speeding away. People still wanting to satisfy their thirst at home and in America's illegal speakeasies rejected dangerous locally made alcohol and demanded only the good stuff "right off the boat", imported illegally by rum-runners straight from the Caribbean.
