This opens with a lovely inner sweetness, perfectly balanced by crisp red fruits, mineral tones and a core of vibrant acidity. It finishes grippy and long yet surprisingly fresh, with a staining of primary concentration that lingers on and on. The 2019 was fermented using 70% whole cluster fruit.". Nature's voice is heard loud and clear here, while the caretakers' hands have always respected its verdant spaces and fine balance. The name itself reveals its character: the bosco,(wood), surrounding the Castiglion (walled castle), is the domain of deer, boars and pheasants. And of Sangiovese. The Castiglion de Bosco estate was a founding member of the group of wineries that made Brunello di Montalcino region what it is today. In 2003 Massimo Ferragamo, the youngest son of famous designer Salvatore Ferragamo, purchased and renovated the estate, which includes the ruins of a medieval castle and even an old town that has seen renewed life as a resort village. The attention to detail and love of their vineyards and lands shines through particularly well in this vintage, this estate, this bottling. |
