Pied a Terre Cabernet Sauvignon Napa

Vintage: 2014
Description: The 2014 vintage in Sonoma was excellent, providing conditions for optimal maturity. It was the second in a series of drought vintages, making for an accelerated growing season, which began with early flowering after a mild winter and culminated in an exceptionally early harvest. The summer of 2014 was cooler than 2013, and largely uninterrupted by the heat spikes, resulting in perfectly balanced grapes. Juicy and phenolically mature! The 2014 Pied à Terre Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the following areas: Chalk Hill (Wild Iris and Clajeaux vineyard), Rockpile (Rockpile vineyard), Dry Creek (Aunt Cathy's vineyard), Sonoma Valley (Chamizal vineyard), Knights Valley (Grable vineyard) and Sonoma County. The wine was aged exclusively in French wood, though less than 20 percent of the barrels were new. We use an assortment of coopers, in search of the barrels with the least impact on flavor: Cavin, Orion, Boutes, Nadalie, Artisan, Rousseau, and Radoux. Tasting Notes: Despite the richness and ripeness of the vintage, the wine is elegant and fresh, with great intensity. Aromas of vibrant red fruit -- sour cherry, black cherry -- with texture and energy on the palate. A perfect complement to hearty meat dishes. piedaterrewine.com.
