Region Description. \"Mezcal\" is a spirit of Mexico and comes from the agave cactus but not the blue nectar which is reserved only for tequila, it is associated with Oaxaca but made across Mexico. Typically there is a worm or \"gusano\" placed in the bottle to be consumed as the last swig for good luck. Its taste is harsh and earthy and traditionally consumed alone. |
