Amazing structure with restrained fruit, rich mouthfeel and drying tannins. Scarlett Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford Napa Valley 2018. Textbook Napa Cabernet from the heart of Rutherford, showing all of the dust and ripe fruit that the region has built its reputation on. Bold, dense, chewy, fruity, oaky, and rounded out in all of the right ways. Dark purple hues give way to freshly picked flowers, cassis, sweet cigar, vanilla, milk chocolate, and medium to full bodied tannins. One of its best qualities is it's consistency from year to year. Ehlers Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 2018. Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with a 16% Cabernet Franc, the aromas of the wine lead you to believe the Cab Franc is a much higher percentage. Dried herbs, dusty blackberries, black cherries and figs. A healthy 22 months of French oak, 61% new, contributes cedar box and vanilla aromas. Medium intensity and weight with medium tannins, showing the natural boldness of the grapes as well as the softening of a talented winemaker. Tether Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2019. The 2019 is 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Malbec, 6% Merlot, 4% Petite Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. Anna Monticelli is the winemaker of this forward, smooth, and eminently drinkable Cabernet-based blend with soft floral notes and medium weight. Aged in 50% new French oak, the upfront nose has aromas of plum, blackcurrant, black cherry, tarragon, and pepper, followed by a juicy palate held up by finessed tannins. |
