| Description: | Canoe Ridge Vineyards is a winery that focuses primarily on Cabernet, Merlot, and Chardonnay,and is located high up the slopes of Horse Heaven Hills in Columbia Valley, Washington. The winery's name was inspired by explorers Lewis & Clark who in 1805 thought the ridge overlooking the Columbia River resembled an overturned canoe. Their vines were planted in 1989 on eastern slopes with morning and afternoon sunshine. Many of you have purchased their fabulous Merlot from us and know it is an incredible value, and their Chardonnay is equally as pleasing. Crisp apple, pear, honeysuckle blossoms and butterscotch aromas jump from the glass as you swirl it. Flavors of bright citrus, juicy pears and ripe apples layered with crème brulee and toasty oak notes are balanced and focused. The palate is refreshingly clean and smooth with a long, juicy finish of butterscotch and cream. Forty percent is barrel aged in used oak, and the remainder in stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness and quality of the fruit. This is a Chardonnay that has "Best Buy" written all over it and is sure to please. -Derek Brammer |
