| Description: | Description: History has seen the San Giusto property transform from 14th century fortress to 19th century monastery to present day winery. Thankfully it may have finally found its calling because the wines produced here are some of the finest in Chianti. The estate is located about 20 miles northeast of Siena in the Gaiole zone, one of the southernmost portions of the Chianti Classico appellation. The wine displays a beautiful burgundy color with ruby at the rim. Lovely dark cherry, violet, and loam. On the palate the wine shows chewy, dusty tannins upfront. Medium-bodied wine with good acid/ alcohol and a round mouthfeel. Towards the finish we get more earthy tones like loam and sandalwood. Food pairings: Aged Asiago, gouda, parmesan, churcuterie, game birds, lamb, braised/ roasted meats, mushrooms, pasta, tomato-based dishes, steak, risotto, meat soups, etc. |
