NV Franck Pascal Champagne Reliance

Description: A Pinot Meunier-dominant blend, with 78% Meunier, 19% Pinot Noir and a hint of Chardonnay. A fresh nose of pear, nectarine, and a hint of chalk. More intense red and orchard fruit on the palate sharpened by a note of of lemon pith. Roundness, power and a heavier weight on the palate. A long mineral finish with the crispness you'd expect from a zero dosage Champagne. Lean and refreshing yet complex, with length and structure. Franck calls this a "sommelier's champagne" as it is great for a group with mixed tastes. Story: Franck Pascal was one of the first biodynamic growers in Champagne and remains one of its most passionate and gifted winemakers. He meticulously cares for 7 hectares in the VallĂ©e de La Marne with what he calls, "a deep sensitivity for nature and the energy forces in our vines." Franck says the name Reliance refers to ‘connecting' and that "the flavours and sensations of Reliance will connect you to the beauty that nature knows how to create when treated correctly.". Vinification: 45 year-old vines growing on flint, millstone and hard limestone soils.Grapes are hand-harvested, gently pressed and placed in an enamelled vat for the first alcoholic fermentation. Indigenous yeasts only, and kept on its lees for 7 years. Unfined, unfiltered and zero dosage. Match it with: Smoked salmon, grilled meaty fish, shellfish with butter.
