Description: | Following in the footsteps of their father, Ermanno Conti, the Conti sisters—Elena, Anna, and Paola—are the second generation to care for their family's one-hectare vineyard in the Boca Doc. This small yet remarkable plot, nestled in two hillside parcels planted by Ermanno in 1971, thrives under the sisters' commitment to organic farming. Every step is done with care, from manual harvesting to using indigenous yeasts in fermentation. Minimal sulphur is applied during aging and bottling, with some experimental cuvées eschewing sulphur entirely. This attention to detail in both the vineyard and cellar has allowed the Conti family to create age-worthy wines that continue to impress, as seen in their older vintages dating back to 1984, still tasting vibrant today. Boca Doc, one of the Alto Piemonte's smallest appellations, stretches across only twelve hectares divided among five villages. While Nebbiolo is the dominant grape, Vespolina and Uva Rara also play vital roles in shaping the character of these wines. The soil composition—limestone, clay, and sand—draws comparisons to Gattinara, just a short drive away, but Boca's wines boast a more elegant and delicate structure. Strict regulations ensure that the wines are aged for at least three years before release, allowing them to develop the complex depth for which the region is known. The Conti family's dedication to tradition and sustainability has positioned them as one of the key figures in keeping Boca's winemaking heritage alive. |
