Tenuta Tignanello - Marchesi Antinori Tignanello

Tenuta Tignanello - Marchesi Antinori Tignanello

Vintage: 2021
Description: One of the original Super-Tuscans, Tignanello has risen to become one of the most recognizable Italian wines worldwide. That status is well-earned, as it's continued to offer a top-tier wine experience that combines Italian vivaciousness and class in an irresistible package. Their truly brilliant rendition from the long, balanced 2021 growing season is further proof of that! In fact, wine critic Antonio Galloni wrote, ". the 2021 has all the pedigree to become a modern benchmark for Tignanello and Italian wine more broadly.". Delicious today, given a little time to open in the glass, the magic of the 2021 lies in a compelling tension between it rich, caressing side and its mouthwateringly vibrant, mineral drive. As it opens, it exudes a swirl of tangy-ripe red and black fruits, blood orange, fragrant tea, tobacco and floral aromas, complemented by rich accents of cacao, cedar and baking spices from the oak aging. The wine's depth and balance continue to excite the senses on the long, elegantly-tapered finish. Don't miss this one !. The 2021 vintage marks the 50th anniversary of the original bottling of Tignanello, which was envisioned to be a dramatically new expression of the Sangiovese-driven wines from the historic Chianti Classico region. In a land where traditions can be particularly slow to change, creator Piero Antinori made the decision to blend their best selection of Sangiovese with the French varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and then age the wine in mostly new, small French oak barrels. It paid off: today, Tignanello is a standard-bearer for modern Italian wine !. Wine Advocate 98 Points - "First made in 1971, this legendary Italian wine now celebrates its 50th birthday. Happy Birthday, Tignanello! The Marchesi Antinori 2021 Tignanello (made with 79% Sangiovese, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Cabernet Franc ) pulls on all the heartstrings. To be released in May, the wine shows a quintessentially pretty taste profile with tart fruit flavors, redcurrant, tea leaf, heritage rose, crushed white pepper, licorice, nutmeg, clove and chopped mint. It opens slowly to reveal more richness and exuberance with time, becoming downright voluptuous and heady a short while later. The through line, however, remains the bright freshness and minerality of Sangiovese. Compared to the 2018 vintage (which I also loved), this vintage has more overall fruit weight and volume.". Vinous 98 Points - "The 2021 Tignanello is every bit as impressive from bottle as it was from barrel and then just after bottling. Silky and polished, with exceptional finesse, the 2021 has all the pedigree to become a modern benchmark for Tignanello and Italian wine more broadly. Bright dark red fruit, blood orange, spice, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco all soar out of the gals, framed by a discreet touch of French oak that adds raciness. In some vintages, the elements are discernible. In 2021, it is the total harmony of the wine that makes the strongest and deepest impression. The 2021 spent 17 months in wood, three months in neutral oak during the malolactic fermentation and then 14 months (50% new) for the rest of its aging. Superb." - Antonio Galloni. 12 Bottle Limit
