Vintage: 2020
Description: 96 JS / 93-95 Fs / 93 Ja / 93 De / 93 Wci / 92-94 Vm / 91-93 Jd / 16.5++ Jr. Lots of black olive with dark fruit and sandalwood on the nose. Full-bodied with layers of velvety and soft tannins, yet they stay vibrant and focused. Very integrated palate. Flavorful at the end. Drink after 2026. -JamesSuckling.com. Deepest ruby, opaque core, purple reflections. Dark forest fruit is underlaid with sweet spices and fine noble wood nuances, a hint of licorice, fresh tangerine zest, attractive bouquet. Complex, juicy, powerful texture, dark nougat and ripe plums, ripe tannins, lingers long, certain ageing potential.-Peter Moser, Falstaff. Sinew and muscle to the tannins, this has character, depth through the mid palate, good aromatics, damson and raspberry fruits, a real Pomerol success with oyster shell salinity on the finish. Labruyère family, first year of organic converstion. Harvest September 15 to 30, 30% new oak-Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux. Heady and concentrated, a deep dark core of blackcurrant and black cherry fruits. Vibrant acidity keeps things lifted and although the muscular tannins coat the mouth giving a soft grip there is nice energy here with a sleek handle on the cool blue fruits, acidity and gorgeous florality. Feels complete, not charming so much right now, but certainly evocative as it's quite forward and confident with strong tobacco, liquorice and clove spice giving the oak on the finish. One to wait for.-Georgina Hindle, Decanter. Soft, lush, ripe, sweet, black, and red plums infused with chocolate, truffles and licorice on the backend in the nose, and on the palate create the core of this wine. The finish offers freshness with waves of plush, black cherries, and a touch of spicy cocoa. Give it a year or two in the cellar, and it will really start to show its stuff. Drink from 2024-2045-Jeff Leve, Wine Cellar Insider. The 2020 Rouget is laced with lavish, inky fruit, cedar, tobacco, menthol, licorice, cedar and tobacco. Rich, sumptuous and alluring, Rouget is all about immediacy. Plush and silky, with soft contours and exceptional balance, Rouget delivers the goods, and then some. The forward, lush style is hugely appealing. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media. A rich, voluptuous Pomerol that does a lot right, the 2020 Château Rouget offers ample black cherry and currant fruit as well as notes of tobacco and chocolate. Rich, mouth-filling, and medium to full-bodied, it offers supple tannins, solid mid-palate depth, and a great finish. It's worth pointing out that 30% of this wine was fermented with stems. - Jeb Dunnuck. Tasted blind. Deep crimson. Sweet, rich but fresh black fruit on the nose. Big, chewy, dense tannin structure, thickly textured, smoothed. Firm and for the long term. Powerfully structured and just a touch hard on the finish at this point.-Julia Harding Mw, JancisRobinson
