| Description: | James Suckling Review. Rated 93. The smoky and herbal nose pulls you into this rather firm and muscular Pommard that reminds me of the wines from this appellation during the 1990s. However, all of this is wrapped in a cloak of black-cherry fruit. So much depth, but still slightly grainy at the finish. From a vineyard called Les Cras below the 1er Cru Rugiens. The first picking of the 2020 harvest, then 50% whole-cluster fermentation. Drinkable now, but best from 2024. Maison Champy Pommard 2020. Maison Champy, established in 1720, is the oldest wine house in Burgundy, renowned for its commitment to quality and tradition. The 2020 Pommard is a testament to their expertise, offering a refined expression of Pinot Noir from the esteemed Pommard appellation. Tasting Notes : Appearance : Dark ruby with deep purple hues.
